JayJeffers, Inc.

Overview

JayJeffers, Inc. is a San Francisco–based interior design firm founded in 1999 by Jay Jeffers, creating homes with soul and atmosphere that feel collected over time. The firm offers a full range of concept-to-installation services, including interior architecture, decoration, custom furniture design, and art and antique acquisitions, with commissions completed across California, New York, Texas, Florida, and beyond.

Jay’s philosophy is simple: a home should reflect the personalities and tastes of its residents, not the designer. This collaborative approach — addressing form and function, architecture and aesthetics, in a process tailored to each client’s needs — has shaped the firm’s reputation for interiors that are both luxurious and deeply livable.

Jay has intentionally kept his firm small yet powerful. His ten-person team includes two seasoned Principal Designers alongside a dedicated staff of Project Managers, Designers, Drafters, and Design Assistants, ensuring Jay remains directly and personally involved in every project.

Beyond the studio, Jay is the co-owner and designer of The Madrona, a boutique hotel, and the author of three design books, Modern Classic, Collected Cool and Be Bold. He has been named to Elle Décor’s A-List and is regularly featured in leading shelter magazines, national newspapers, and show houses. Jay has also designed a collection of architectural hardware for Accurate Lock & Hardware and three furniture collections in partnership with Arteriors. He splits his time between New York City and San Francisco.

Services

JayJeffers, Inc. provides full-service, concept-to-installation interior design for residential and hospitality clients. Services include interior architecture and finish selection (working alongside architects on tile, stone, wood, cabinetry, and fixtures), furniture plans and custom furniture design, and comprehensive furnishings procurement — from initial studio presentations through final proposal. The firm also guides clients through art and antique acquisitions, connecting them with galleries and artists suited to their collection, and provides recommendations for placement throughout the home.

Every project concludes with a full installation: the JayJeffers team manages delivery and placement of furnishings, art installation, accessory styling, bed-making, and final home preparation, so the space is complete and ready the moment the client walks in — no peeking allowed.

Areas Served

JayJeffers, Inc. designs homes nationally, with a concentration of work in:

  • San Francisco Bay Area — the firm’s home base and the origin of many of its most recognized projects
  • New York — where Jay maintains a second residence and an active client base
  • California — including projects beyond the Bay Area, from wine country to Southern California
  • Texas
  • Florida

The firm also accepts select commissions in other markets across the United States, with each project personally overseen by Jay and one of his Principal Designers regardless of location.
